Fotografía Y Existencia: La Ansiedad En Mi Ansioso Corazón De Katie Joy Crawford

Abstract
The existentialist thinking defines men as a project that implicates an attitude of decision for his own definition. The french philosopher Jean Paul Sartre establishes that this posture of decision takes men into a state of consciousness of his own existence which he calls La Nausée. According to Sartre, in this state man is conscious of his own existence with the world that surrounds him and the implications that unleash his being-in-the-world. In this state, Sartre defines three stadiums in which men are situated: anguish, despair and abandonment. On the other hand, the photographic task as an expression and registration of the perception of the photographer, has an intrinsic entailment with the existence and is a proof of the experience. The photography creates a parallel world, represents a reality that can be visible only through it. Creates an alternative to the dimensions of space and time, necessary concepts for the definition of the existence. From the relationship between photography and existence, we go into the analysis of the photographic series My anxious heart from the American photographer Katie Joy Crawford. The series has as main theme, the representation of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), transferring elements that exist only in the world of ideas of the photographer into a tangible world through space-time. Thanks to the action of Crawford, the photographer turns into a link of the figuration of the relation between the existentialist doctrine and the GAD. The relationship is given through the formal elements that compose the photography, which represent the three stadiums that Sartre proposes as constituents of the state of Nausée. We wanted to make a categorization of the photographies organized in three tetrads which are linked with the concepts of space and time for their analysis.
